MHRA safety
Filters should be used during the administration of Parenteral Nutrition for patients in all care settings
Administration of parenteral nutrition without a filter has been associated with a number of adverse incidents including an embolism which resulted in a fatal outcome.
The journals
British Journal of General Practice: Primary care quality and secondary healthcare utilisation in patients with multimorbidity: a retrospective cohort study.
Retrospective cohort of 468,172 English patients found multimorbidity-specific quality measures associated with fewer elective admissions in the following year, particularly for those with 3 or more conditions, though generic quality metrics linked to more outpatient visits.
BJGP Open: A systematic review of behavioural interventions for prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections.
Systematic review of 10 studies (2 RCTs, 2907 participants) found heterogeneous evidence with low confidence for behavioural UTI prevention; increased fluid intake showed strongest evidence (one RCT, N=140), while other behaviours mostly not independently evaluated.
BJGP Open: A primary care intervention to expedite cancer diagnosis: protocol for the ThinkCancer! phase III trial.
ThinkCancer! phase III randomised controlled trial protocol testing a behavioural intervention for reducing primary care cancer diagnostic delays; no results yet.
