Before you rely on the result: Not used in atrial fibrillation with a mechanical heart valve or moderate to severe mitral stenosis. NICE NG196 applies it to paroxysmal, persistent or permanent AF, to atrial flutter, and to a continuing risk of recurrence after cardioversion or ablation.
