Accessibility statement for GPAtlas
How accessible gpatlas.co.uk is, what is not yet right, and how to tell us.
Last updated: 19 October 2026
In short. Most of GPAtlas works with a keyboard and the accessibility menu that sits on every page. Some things are not right yet: some buttons lose their focus outline, the Echo audio summaries have no transcript, and the book pages and the infographic PDFs are pictures. This page lists each one, what we are doing about it, and how to reach us.
This statement applies to the website at gpatlas.co.uk, which is run by GPAtlas Ltd (company number 16587886).
GPAtlas Ltd is a private company that serves clinicians and the organisations they work in, NHS and private. We are not a public sector body, so the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply to us. We use the government's model statement anyway, and we aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1 at level AA.

1. How accessible this website is
Every page has an accessibility menu, opened from the floating Reading tools button. Your choices are kept on your device, so they are still on the next time you visit. From the menu you can:
- make the text smaller or larger with the site's own text size control
- turn on Dyslexia Mode
- switch the whole site to the OpenDyslexic font
- use a reading guide, a ruler that follows your pointer, or a reading mask, which shades the page except for a band around your pointer
- turn on ADHD Mode, which stops animations and softens the colours
- turn on Reduce Motion, which stops animations on their own
- switch to Dark Contrast (a dark mode), Invert Contrast or Highlight Links
You can also:
- zoom in with your browser. We do not block zooming, and the pages are built to reflow for small screens, so on most pages the text is not cut off
- move through the site with a keyboard: the Tab key moves between links and buttons, and Enter opens them
- control the homepage film from the keyboard, and turn its captions on or off. Every spoken line is captioned, and the script is written out scene by scene under the film
- listen instead of reading: Echo has audio summaries of clinical topics, each podcast has a transcript you can show under the player, the consultation guide is narrated with a transcript that follows the voice, and many AKT quick notes have a recorded narration for members
2. Known limitations
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. The WCAG success criterion each one fails is in brackets.
- Some buttons and links do not show a visible outline when you reach them with the Tab key (2.4.7 Focus Visible).
- The reading guide and the reading mask follow a mouse pointer. On a touch screen they do not follow your finger.
- The audio summaries in Echo have no transcript. Each one summarises a written clinical topic in Ocean, and that topic is the text version (1.2.1 Audio-only (Prerecorded)).
- Flowcharts inside the Ocean clinical topics are drawings. Each has a short text label and its steps are text inside the drawing, but a screen reader may not read the steps in the intended order (1.3.2 Meaningful Sequence).
- The PDF a member can download from an infographic is a picture of the infographic with no text layer, so a screen reader cannot read it. The infographic page itself is the accessible version (1.1.1 Non-text Content).
- The GPAtlas book is shown as a picture of each page, and the alternative text gives only the page number and title. The PDF of the book has selectable text, but we have not checked its reading order or tagging (1.1.1 Non-text Content).
- Some wide tables, for example in the privacy policy, scroll sideways at high zoom rather than reflowing (1.4.10 Reflow).
- The AI Consultation Simulator and Whisper work by speech. They need a microphone and a spoken conversation, there is no typed alternative, and they cannot be used without them.
- Payment pages are provided by Stripe, our payment processor, and are not under our control. If you have a problem on one of those pages, tell us and we will pass it on.
3. What we are doing to improve
- restoring a visible focus outline on every button and link
- adding transcripts to the Echo audio summaries
- checking the reading order of the Ocean flowcharts with a screen reader, and fixing the ones that read out of order
- making the reading guide and the reading mask follow a finger on touch screens
We will update this statement as each item is done.
4. Feedback and contact information
If you find a problem that is not listed here, or you think we are not meeting the accessibility requirements, please tell us:
- use the Contact Us page
- email [email protected]
- WhatsApp +44 7884 099940
We reply within 5 working days.
If you need information on this website in a different format, such as large print or plain text, email us and tell us what you need. We will say what we can provide and how long it will take.
5. Enforcement procedure
GPAtlas Ltd is not a public sector body, so the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) does not enforce the public sector accessibility regulations against us. The Equality Act 2010 still applies to us as a provider of services.
If you are not happy with how we respond to a complaint about accessibility, contact us first and we will try to put it right. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), which gives free advice on equality matters in England, Scotland and Wales.
6. Technical information about this website's accessibility
GPAtlas Ltd is committed to making its website accessible, in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at level AA, which we aim to meet although the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply to us.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed under Known limitations above.
7. Preparation of this statement
